Nestle's 'KitKat Senses' Required 10 Mln Euro Bulgarian Investment
In the plant Nestle's new low calorie edition KitKat chocolate bar “Senses” is produce, the chocolate has been available in the UK since April and by the end of the year should reach the French and German markets.
Work on the
new recipe reportedly began in 2005 and part of the investment was
spent on buying new equipment and upgrading the Bulgarian factory,
where Senses will be produced.
Nestle had chosen its Bulgarian
facility rather than York, the home of Rowntree's Kitkat chocolate,
to make Senses in March.
"The York factory is a massive
plant making normal KitKats, with capacity to do that … with a new
product, management looks at capacity and specialisation in a type of
product", said a Nestle spokesperson at the time.
Nestle Bulgaria plans to produce 9,000
tons of KitKat Senses bars per year.
