MOL Fresh Corner celebrates 10 years: quality gastronomy at the service of travelers
MOL Fresh Corner celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. With the concept launched in 2015, MOL aimed to take gas station hospitality to a new level and offer a quality gastronomic experience to travelers and local customers. Over the past decade, Fresh Corner has become one of the leading retail chains in the European region, and now welcomes customers with more than 1,300 locations.
MOL Fresh Corner’s entire international network sold a total of 65 million cups of coffee and 43 million hot dogs in 2024. This is more than two coffees per second, and if placed side by side, the hot dogs would form a 7,000-kilometer chain from Heroes’ Square to New York’s Central Park. The most coffee was purchased at the Vukova Gorica gas station in Croatia, with a total of more than 341,000 cups, which is almost a thousand coffees per day on average. The busiest unit in Hungary was the one at Hatvan, on the M3 motorway, where more than 200,000 coffees were sold. Hot dogs were also the most popular, with nearly 200,000 sold last year, which exceeded 500 pieces per day.
“For ten years, Fresh Corner has been not only the story of a successful brand, but also evidence of a change in perspective that is transforming MOL from a fuel retailer into a service provider serving the mobility and consumer needs of the future,” said Péter Ratatics, Managing Director of MOL Group Consumer Services.
Milestones in the history of Fresh Corner
Ten years ago, the first Fresh Corner opened in Budapest, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the world of on-the-go dining. Fresh Corner has been continuously evolving since then: in 2017, it doubled its hot dog offering, and in 2018, it entered the world of urban cafes when the first standalone Fresh Corner Café opened in Budapest, and in 2019, it brought the Fresh Corner experience to festivals in the form of food trucks and tuktuks deployed to events.
Its commitment to quality hospitality led to another important milestone: in 2021, MOL acquired the company that operates the Hungarian Marché restaurants, and customers can now find the catering units under the name Fresh Corner Restaurant across the country, and the 1,000th Fresh Corner was also opened. In 2022, the company launched a unique loyalty program called MOL MOVE, the unwavering popularity of which is best demonstrated by the fact that more than 5 million customers have now registered for the program. Also this year, Marco Rossi, the national team captain of the Hungarian football team, joined as an ambassador to bring the Fresh Corner experience to even more people.
Coffee sales in Hungary exceeded the 10 million milestone in 2023, thanks in part to the quality Arabica and Robusta-based coffees and coffee specialties. In 2024, Fresh Corner hot dogs – with the well-known Pick sausages – became available in many grocery chain stores, and in 2025 a new chapter opened in its history: having gathered previous experiences, the company was ready to move beyond the gas station environment and become available to customers in more and more places and formats, such as university cafeterias, airports, public transport hubs or office building cafes.
