Banana Records, a publishing and creative agency, has launched a special music project about the power of music, collaboration and social responsibility. The collaboration album, Superalbum, stars children participating in the Superar Music Foundation program: they sing along with ten popular Hungarian artists to show the power of making music together and how Superar’s value-creating work helps children develop. The project’s partner is SPAR Hungary.

The list of artists participating in the album speaks for itself: Bagossy Brothers Company, Blahalouisiana, Bohemian Betyars, Carson Coma, Co Lee, Márk Járai, Kolibri, Margaret Island, Mehringer and Valmar – all of whom will create an original song with the children’s choir. The Superalbum will be released this fall, but the first singles will be available in the summer. The process of making the album can be followed on the social media channels of the artists, Superar, Banana Records, and SPAR Hungary, as well as on the website www.superalbum.hu. Judit Morvay, president of the board of trustees of the Superar Music Foundation, summarizes the initiative as follows:

“One of the foundations of Superar’s work is that we consider children as partners, we give them responsibility and we give them a trust that they can live with. And this is exactly what happens in the SUPERALBUM project: renowned artists sit down with them and invite them to create a joint work and a professional production as equal partners. This enormous trust stimulates them to incredible creativity, perseverance, concentration, and teamwork. They experience that everyone’s voice really matters here, and this gives them a confidence that they can use in all areas of their lives.”

Banana Records co-founder Kamau Makumi said of the collaboration:

“We have been inspired by Superar’s work for a long time – the way it gives children community and self-confidence through music and pedagogy is exemplary. We have worked together before, but now we want to create something bigger, more visible, with which we can meaningfully support the foundation’s work. We were supported by 10 outstanding performers from the Hungarian music scene, who immediately identified with the mission, as well as our partner SPAR, who joined the project at the ideation stage. Superalbum is both a creative project and an important cause: it shows that music truly has the power to shape society.”

Károly Németh, Marketing Manager at SPAR Hungary, explains the purpose of the project and the motivation behind it as follows:

“This promotion goes far beyond music: it gives children the opportunity to show their voice – both literally and figuratively. Superar uses the power of community and music to help children develop their personalities so that they become confident, resilient adults. For SPAR, this is not only support, but also co-creation: we are involved in the creative process from the beginning and are involved in every little part of it – this is what makes us a brand with a human face. We believe that self-expression is everyone’s fundamental right, and Superalbum gives everyone the opportunity to support a good cause – simply by enjoying music together! Every share, every play helps our voices to be heard.”

Superar aims to ensure that every child – regardless of background or musical background – can experience the joy, developmental power and community-building effect of making music together. Superar, which operates on an international model, is currently working with more than 350 children and young people in 6 primary schools in Hungary in the free, high-quality program. Through cooperation with schools, social and cultural institutions, they create a supportive environment where participants can simultaneously experience personal development, a sense of belonging to the community, and discover their own, often hidden, abilities and talents.

The Superalbum is therefore both a community and a musical experience – a record on which well-known performers and children sing together to show that music can truly build community and give self-confidence. All we have to do is listen – and enjoy it. Because every play brings us closer to allowing as many children as possible to experience the wonder of music.
