KSH: Prices up 2.7 percent in March
According to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), in March 2017 consumer prices were 2.7 percent higher on average than a year before. In comparison with March 2016, food prices increased by 2.2 percent. Sugar prices soared by 14 percent and pork’s price rose 10.8 percent. Cheese prices augmented by 7.1 percent and baked goods cost 5.2 percent more. Poultry became 16.5 percent cheaper and eggs cost 5.6 percent less.
Motor fuels turned 17.1 percent more expensive. Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices grew by 2.6 percent. Services were provided for 1.6 percent more. The price of household energy got 0.5 percent higher. Compared with February 2017, consumer prices didn’t change and food prices also stayed put.
