”The long forgotten plant” has risen
The Szarvaskerep loves the country’s rainy climate. But researchers of the University of Debrecen do not let it extinct.
Seeds available in Hungary are now largely from Western Europe, where Szarvaskerep is a favorite plant for hay and pasture. Even in pure crops it is a rare thing. The breeding of the plant in Hungary was practically eliminated in the millennium, and the earlier varieties were slowly excluded from the National List of Species in the absence of variety bearers.
