The intelligent, computer-controlled scales, now appeared in Hungary not only shows the weight of the goods, but also recognizes, what they are; showing how many calories are in the purchased product, or even offer wine to the weighed cheese.

In the food sector 75 percent of the customers decisions are taken in the store, but the merchants are currently spending only 5 percent of their budget on marketing. A smart scale placed on the fruit and vegetables desk is able to identify the goods approaching to 90 percent, even in a nylon bag. So the customer does not need to seek among the codes, it is enough to decide what to buy on the basis of the pictures offered. The novelty was presented by Aspirán Géza, development director of Laurel Computer Ltd. Székesfehérvár. Aspirán Géza said that comparing to the current self-service systems, smart scales means multiple speeds removing queues in front of the balance sheets. The new, intelligent scales means faster, cheaper and more flexible service that allows a nearly infinite number of measurements in addition to marketing information.
