10-11 percent of the annual egg quantity is sold in the weeks before Easter
The average annual consumption of Easter eggs is around 270-280 million pieces, which is 10-11 percent of the annual consumption – the Agricultural Products Secretary of the Poultry Product Council (BTT) told.
Molnár Györgyi said that households purchase 30-35 percent more eggs in the weeks before Easter than usual.
Total egg consumption is close to 2.5 billion a year – she added.
She reported that the sector’s egg production revenue was 26 billion HUF last year, amounting to 26.5 billion HUF in the previous year. The decrease was explained by the fact that while the registered production increased, the average producer price decreased. (MTI)
