Magazine: Blockchain is waiting for retail to discover it

On 16 October the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) organised a conference about the not yet utilised opportunities offered to retail by the blockchain technology. Zoltán Házi, the president of BKIK’s retail services department opened the conference. He told: they felt it necessary to call the attention of the trade to the opportunities created by blockchain technology.

Örs Országh, deputy managing director of the Blockchain Competence Centre clarified the concepts of cryptocurrency and blockchain: the former is a financial service that is based on blockchain technology, while the latter is the actual digital mechanism that makes it work. Mr Országh revealed that interest is growing in blockchain technology, and experts are already studying its social and philosophical aspects. He added that today’ centralised world is heading in a decentralised direction and blockchain technology fits into this very well.

He spoke about Hungarian models that are already up and running in the market such as those by ETHEAL and TE-FOOD, plus he talked about the healthcare model that he is developing with students.

He told: blockchain offers great business development and sales growth opportunities.
