Hungary can strengthen tourism based on water tours
Hungary has fantastic possibilities to become a water tourism paradise – said the State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for active Hungary on Wednesday in Sárospatak at a conference targeting the water tourism opportunities of Bodrog.
Máriusz Révész emphasized: the peaceful and safe water surface of Bodrog makes it suitable for even families to hike on. At the moment, however, few people do this – he pointed out.
After his presentation, the state secretary told a journalist’s question that they are looking for ways to make this form of active recreation popular.
For this, it is necessary to simplify the rules, as well as the cooperation of the settlements and organizations of the region, he added.
He said routes must be developed in connection with water and bicycle tourism, and along this line, what is needed must be thought through.
Máriusz Révész also touched on the need to create joint marketing for the Bodrog River, which affects the settlements there and also the opportunity provided by Zemplé.
He believes that if these are completed, the number of water and bicycle hikers coming to the area could multiply.
The conference was attended by the mayors of the affected settlements, tourism professionals and representatives of the service providers.
