Coca-Cola returns to Myanmar
The Coca-Cola Company today inaugurates the bottling plant in Myanmar, which is part of its 200 million USD worth investment planned for the country to create 22,000 jobs over five years.
Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Company, was in Yangon to attend the inauguration ceremony. The plant marks the first time in more than 60 years for Coca-Cola to bottle its products in the country. The bottling plant is locatd in Crystal Springs, Hmawbi Township.
“As we grow as a local business in Myanmar, we are committed to creating economic value and building sustainable communities,” said Kent. “For the people of Myanmar, Coca-Cola embodies the optimism of a bright future, with the promise of better days and better lives ahead. We are privileged to be a part of their journey.”
The U.S. investment will expand the production capacity of the existing site, and will be so again after sixty years of Coca-Cola production in the country. The U.S. sells beverage products in Myanmar since September, but that they came from imports. (MTI, hirado.hu)
