Abolishing the VAT exemption for small goods ordered from outside the EU may discourage shopping
At first, the desire to buy may be curbed by the fact that from July 1, VAT will also have to be paid on items under 22 euros that arrive from outside the European Union, says a representative survey commissioned by Magyar Posta, the results of which were communicated to MTI on Friday.
According to a May survey of the adult population aged 18-65, two-thirds of shoppers from outside the EU plan to order less or not order at all after 1 July. Thus, it is conceivable that Hungarian and European e-merchants will benefit. (MTI)
