Retail sales in the euro area and the EU fell in March
Retail sales in the euro area and the European Union fell by a record level in March, compared to the previous month, according to a report by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, published on Wednesday. On an annual basis, retail sales increased the most in Hungary in March.
In March, seasonally adjusted retail sales fell by a record 11.2 percent month-on-month in the euro area 19 and by 10.4 percent in the 27 EU Member States.
There has been no example of a similar decline, since the beginning of the compilation of comparable statistics in 1995. (MTI)
