The price of Trappist cheese, which has become extremely expensive, is finally falling
Based on the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the price of Trappist cheese in Hungary has decreased significantly over the past year, by 6.1 percent. This favorable trend creates an opportunity for customers to reduce costs, Pénzcentrum points out.
The decrease in the price of Trappist cheese stems from last year’s high base, as it rose in price by more than two percent last July (in one month). On the other hand, a slight price drop is expected to occur in July this year. The primary driver of the 0.1 percent deflation on a monthly basis was the drop in food prices. In the food category, we can count on a significant decrease of around 2-3 percent.
In recent months, the price of Trappist cheese has decreased, which is good news for customers. However, there are several factors behind the favorable price changes. The favorable performance of Hungarian agriculture, the decrease in energy costs, and the strengthening of the HUF, which helps importers, all contributed to the price drop.
