Ham king Pápai surprises the market with vegan range
Probably one of the biggest sensations in the Hungarian grocery market this year is Pápai Hús Kft.’s new vegan product range.
Managing director Péter Szappanos reckons that a growing number of meat lovers wish to follow a more diverse diet. The new range is called Pápai Ízek and consists of two cold cuts and a burger. If the launch is a success, more vegan products will follow as innovation work is already underway.
Pápai Hús has started a HUF 2-billion modernisation project, which will be completed in 2021. The company employs nearly 700 people and guarantees an income to another 1,800-2,000 people via its suppliers. Pápai Hús is already using the Hungarian Product trademark on its private label products made for retailers, and the company is planning to extend this to certain Pápai Hús brands as well. //
