To preserve the egg industry's competitiveness is an EU mission
It is essential for all EU member states to grab the possible tools in order to preserve the egg industry's competitiveness – Kis Miklós Zsolt, vice president of the National Agricultural Association (NAK) emphasized on Friday in Győr at a professional discussion, where he confirmed that they are lobbying to reduce the VAT on eggs.
He also recalled that in the EU budget cycle lasts until 2020, the poultry industry and the egg industry cannot expect immediate sources.
He noted that in the past ten years, the per capita egg consumption decreased by nearly a quarter to 12 kilogrammes in the European community and “the Hungarian situation is not brighter.” He mentioned promotion and agricultural marketing as the tools increase the domestic demand. (MTI)
