The world's oldest edible ham is more than a century old
The world's oldest edible ham “celebrated” its 112th anniversary at the end of the week.
The culinary “miracle” that is guarded in Isle Of Wight County Museum inSmithfield, Virginia was prepared by the Gwaltney meat plant in 1902. It was pickled, then smoked several times, but later it was forgotten in the meat factory’s store.
“Today it isshrunken, but probably edible.” – Henrietta Gwaltney, granddaughter of the former owner of a meat plant said abot the 60 centimeters piece of meat that looks like a large piece of old skin. (MTI)
