Respect Hungarian meat!

After Russia banned the importing of Hungarian meat the socialist party (MSZP) started using the ‘Respect Hungarian meat!’ slogan to let Prime Minister Viktor Orbán know, they want him to show he is able represent our country’s interests in our relations with Russia. Those in the trade know that the ban has to do with the battle between Russia, the EU and the USA and not with the quality of Hungarian meat products. Hungarian meat processing companies have passed the strictest quality audits of Japan, South Korea and the USA and meet the requirements of major international retail chains. According to Livestock and Meat Interprofessional Organisation and Marketing Board (VHT) president Antal Németh, the Russians stopped importing from all EU countries as the African swine fever appeared in Europe – a good excuse for an economic ‘counter strike’, indeed. Hopefully, by the time this article is published things will have returned back to normal.
