Nielsen: more than 900 tonnes of chocolate was consumed during Easter last year
Food retail conducts more and more traffic from Easter sweets. More than 900 tons of chocolate eggs, rabbits and other festive gifts were sold in retail stores during last year’s Easter period in a value of about 3.5 billion HUF.
In terms of value, the turnover increased by 6 percent, while in terms of value a 1 percent decline occured, compared with the Easter season of 2012 – Nielsen’s Retail Index shows among others. Still in the egg and the rabbit figurines are dominating the market. It is a new situation, that unlike the previous years, the turnover of chocolate eggs was higher than the turnover of chocolate rabbits.
