Magazine: More people bought wieners in supermarkets and discount stores this year
Despite the stable base of buyers, in the first seven months of 2011 wiener volume sales dropped 4 percent, due to fewer buying occasions – reveals GfK Hungária’s Consumer Scan.
While more people bought the category in supermarkets and discount stores, fewer hypermarket shoppers put wiener in their baskets. The number small shops’ buyers remained stable. Some consumer groups bought more wieners than before but others purchased less: in the southeastern part of Hungary small town families, whose members are below the age of 29 and have a lower income cut down on their wiener buying above the average level. From 100kg wieners domestic households purchased 27kg in discount stores; the second most important channel was hypermarkets, small shops, supermarkets, butchers’ and others. Shopping frequency only improved in the discount store channel.
