The Slovak stores will be closed on all public holidays
The Slovak legislature on Tuesday in Bratislava approved the amendments to the Labor Code, which extends the store closure on public holidays. The amendment tabled by the ruling coalition take effect from May this year.
The prohibition on retail opening hours have covered four days in Slovakia: the first day of the year, which at the same time is foundation of the Slovak Republic became independent in 1993, Easter Sunday and Christmas, namely 24 December from 12 am to 25 from the during the whole day. The relevant legislation to expand the number of such days during all state celebrations and the so-called non-working days, of which together Slovaks have 16 a year. (Starovic Tibor, MTI)
