Gardeners have to cope in a tightening world
Representatives of the horticulture sector met for the eighth time in Szeged to review the issues affecting the sector at the Zsendülés conference on March 2.
The main patron of the conference was Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, who emphasized in his presentation: the application of precision technologies, the integration of automation, robotization, and digitalization in vegetable and fruit cultivation cannot be postponed any longer. He emphasized that all farmers should now focus on preparing for the new agricultural support system of the 2023-2027 Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan. Stricter conditions from an environmental point of view, redistributive support for small and medium-sized farms and the start of the agro-ecology program are serious tasks for both the farmer and the government. The minister told the gardeners to be aware, prepare for the changes and be the winners of the new system.
Dr. Pál Nobilis Márton, the Secretary of State responsible for the food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, added that two policy issues are being treated as a matter of priority: improving the proportion of Hungarian products in retail and reducing food waste.
