The latest event in the Career and Style series bore the above title and was held on Margaret Island on 13 May. The first presentation of the conference was by two Nielsen experts, client service director Bernadett Osztoics and regional data supply manager Krisztián Juhász. They spoke about reliability in market research and introduced the methods they use and the team who uses them. Next up was Róbert Merkler, managing director of Intersnack who talked about how they changed things – from product composition to management structure to technology used – after the introduction of the public health product fee (NETA) in order to survive.

After this participants heard about new methods in MLM – a system hated by some and praised by others. Attila Tigyi, the international director of Organo Gold told that his primary task is supporting and spreading novelties. The story of French-owned but Hungarian-managed Pannontej was next in the programme: Péter Szautner spoke about the hardships and how the company was able to stay in the business, impressing the French owners. Henkel managing director Ágnes Fábián and Fonyódi Mineral Water Kft.’s sales director Zoltán Herjeczki have been a couple for more than 20 years. An interesting conversation with them revealed how their happy family life can be the perfect background for successful managerial work. Csaba Belovai, sales director with Zwack Unicum gave a dynamic presentation about good managers and excellent team work as the prerequisites for implementing structural changes at the company, in order to remain competitive. In the last part of the programme the heads of Magyar Telekom, Sony, Panalpina and TargetSales Group – Attila Keszég, Sándor Rab, Péter Szabados and Balázs Tóth – shared their experiences about 2012 with participants. As a conclusion, we can say that the day’s programme showed: managers in various sectors can reach their goals if they keep fighting and never give up – just like the samurais.
