VOSZ aims for government-level interest representation
Besides celebrating, on Europe’s Day in Commerce complaints were also voiced: the sector mostly laid the blame on the government for the sector’s problems. We asked what the reasons were from László Krisán, the president of VOSZ’s commerce section: – Retailers feel that the government and the media use the sector as a punching bag, and the state also tries to overregulate it. 500,000 people work in the sector and their interests are not represented on the government level at all. This is why we propose setting up high-level policy organisation. Q: Do you think it could be up and running in the near future? A: We do not want yet another committee; what we want is the government to acknowledge the absolute value of these 500, 000 people who generate 12.5 percent of the GDP and 50 percent of all VAT paid in Hungary.
