In addition to the fact that the late inventor Dr. József Béres continued his university studies at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Agricultural Sciences, the predecessor institution of the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences, between 1961 and 1965, the current activities of MATE, Béres Pharmaceuticals Factory, and the Béres Foundation meet at several points. The conscious education of Hungarian society and the encouragement of research and development are of paramount importance to all three parties. Accordingly, recognizing each other’s past and current activities, the three organizations are now starting to cooperate in several areas.
When signing the letter of intent, Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza said that although the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences can boast of numerous strategic cooperations,
“perhaps there is none that has such a strong and beautiful precedent as the agreement concluded today. After all, the fact that the eponymous and founder was a former student of our university, and that the field of expertise that connects him to the university accompanied him throughout his entire career, I think is unprecedented,” Dr. Csaba Gyuricza pointed out. He added that the agreement itself is also exemplary, as it is the revival and renewal of joint work from several decades ago. “That is why it is very important that we can restart this cooperation and continue it on a much larger scale. I am particularly pleased that the history of the Béres Award will continue in the future to support and recognize the most outstanding agricultural engineering students. For us, the collaborations that allow us to connect our students with market and economic actors in the spirit of practical training are very important,”
– underlined the rector of MATE.
