Record braking performances in the euro area
The most dynamic performance increase of the past 12 years occured in the euro area’s economy in January, according to the preliminary survey of the IHS Markit Economics Institute, published in London on Wednesday.
The pre-January value of the Composite Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) increased to 58.6 points, reaching its 139 monthly peak (June 2006) from the 58.1 points of December. Analysts expected a drop in January; 57.9 points.
The service industry’s PMI increased to 57.6 points (125 months peak since August 2007), from the 56.6 points of December. Analysts expected a slight drop of 56.5 points for January. (MTI)
