Professionals’ playground
With a bit of business experience the average Hungarian restaurant owner can decide whether it is worth for them to become a franchise partner. But probably most of them do not see the point in buying know-how from companies when anything can be copied. What is more, this way they do not have to buy products directly from franchise owners.
However, Ráspi restaurant in Király Street, Budapest is a good example of profiting from a strong brand. Chef-owner Attila Gál told our magazine that József Horváth was not financially interested in the second Ráspi, but he helped in planning and creating the concept. The appearance of the prestigious name stirred great media attention, generating great publicity for the opening restaurant. This partnership was the result of the two owners’ friendship, but in general we can say that franchise is a professionals’ playground.
