Amazon’s Pegasus Drive robots to be used in new Spanish DC’s
Amazon plans to open three new distribution centres in Spain, which will host its Pegasus Drive robots.
Amazon’s new DC in Barcelona will be the seventh in this city, will measure 28,000 square metres and create 230 jobs across the next three years. The new DC in Pontevedra will have an area of 4000 square metres and employ 30 individuals with an additional 30 delivery drivers being hired by independent delivery companies. The third DC that’s due to be launched in Asturias will be 3000 square metres large and create more than 15 jobs.
The new DC’s will be using Pegasus Drive robotics technology, which are robots that move within a field managing and directing individual packages instead of large storage shelves.
