Cautious expansion
Aldi Süd continues implementing its long-term expansion plans in China. More than 250 employees are working for Aldi China at the moment. The discounter currently operates 7 neighbourhood markets in the city of Shanghai. After two years as an online-only player, at the opening of the first store in June 2019 Aldi planned to open 9 stores by mid-2020.
