Ostorosbor: fresh wines, fresh attitude
Ostoros-Novaj Wine Zrt., the biggest winery in the Eger Wine Region, has been going through changes in recent years. First they managed to prove that quality wines can be made using large-scale production methods. At the same time a change in wine consumption trend also occurred, giving way to fresh, fruity, reductive-technology whites and rosés. 2013 brought further changes: products are updated to suit the taste of a new generation of wine drinkers, those between the ages of 20 and 30. Péter Kiss was appointed director of winemaking and Gergő Soltész was named chairman of the board of directors – both of them are young professionals who believe that they can reach quality conscious, educated and open young people with wines produced with the same attitude. Mr Kiss spoke to us about this year’s novelty product, Csipke Rosé, a light, fruity and aromatic wine with relatively low alcohol content. Mr Soltész emphasised the importance of profitability, as otherwise the company wouldn’t be able to finance its innovation activity. More efficient market presence and communication are also necessary elements of Ostoros-Novaj Wine Zrt.’s success.
