NGM: prices of affected drugstore products decreased by almost a quarter
We have taken another step against unjustified price increases, the prices of affected drugstore products have decreased by nearly a quarter, the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) announced on Tuesday.
The ministry emphasized that the government will use all means to protect Hungarian families and pensioners against unjustified price increases.
The government has uniformly reduced the margin rate in 30 different product categories in drugstores – including household and chemical products, as well as hygiene and beauty products – to 15 percent, and the affected products have become nearly 25 percent cheaper.
Based on a sample survey by the Ministry of National Economy, as a result of the margin reduction extended on May 19, 95 percent of the affected household products have become cheaper, by an average of 24.9 percent. The prices of paper towels, disposable razors, aluminum foil, shaving gel and shaving foam, and dishwasher tablets have decreased the most, they said.
According to the statement, the government is continuously taking action against unjustified price increases in order to protect Hungarian families and pensioners. If necessary, it is ready to intervene immediately to prevent additional costs for the population.
The measures introduced so far significantly contribute to stimulating household consumption and reducing everyday expenses.
The government’s goal is to promote economic growth by reducing prices and expanding consumption, the Ministry of Economy and Finance wrote.
