It is also clear to most Member States and the co-legislator, the European Parliament, that there is no realistic chance that the new Common Agricultural Policy will be launched in 2022. However, the European Commission wants to block the adoption of regulations that would envisage the entry into force of the new Common Agricultural Policy only by 2023 after a two-year transition period, forcing the unattainable environmental and climate protection goals set out in the Green Agreement to be imposed on farmers as soon as possible – Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said.

The Commission’s irresponsibility could mean that there will be no legal basis for the payment of EU agricultural subsidies in 2022, which could lead to a loss of resources. The irresponsible attitude of the European Commission is jeopardizing the payments of the agriculture in 2022 merely in order to impose the unenforceable environmental and climate protection standards contained in the Green Agreement on farmers as soon as possible, the head of the ministry stressed.
