GOSZ expects a minimum wheat cropof four million tons
Currently it seems that the amount of wheat harvest will be around or above four million tons – said Vancsura József, the President of the National Association of Cereal Growers (GOSZ) on Tuesday.
Last year 3.76 million tonnes of wheat grown in Hungary, 20 percent less than the average of 4.7 million tonnes of the previous five years.
Vancsura József added that this volume will exceed the previously estimated, by 10-20 percent. So far, thanks to the favorable weather conditions, the quality of wheat is generally good. This means, for example, that this year the farmers do not have to comply with fusarium infection – reports MTI.
