Everybody is opening
Competition for the Romanian food market is tough. Most of retail trade still takes place in traditional, small stores, but modern stores are spreading quickly. The volume of retail trade is expected to reach EUR 20 billion this year, half of which amount is spent on food. Private labels are also expanding with their market share approaching ten per cent. Of the leading European retail chains, Auchan, the Schwarz group, Cora and Delhaize are present at the moment.
