Free trade negotiations stalled
Negotiations on the free trade agreement between the European Union and the United States (TTIP) have failed – German economy minister Sigmar Gabriel’s statement was quoted by Népszabadság Online.
Negotiations over the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) began in February 2014 but Sigmar Gabriel revealed leaders on both sides are in denial.
He said in 14 rounds of talks, the two sides have not agreed on a single common chapter out of 27 being discussed.
Mr Gabriel said: “In my opinion the negotiations with the United States have de facto failed, even though nobody is really admitting it. (nol.hu)
