Even more Hungarian products are available in ALDI stores
ALDI’s close cooperation with Hungarian food companies is very well indicated by the fact that in February 2018 the discounter bought Alföldi Tej Kft.’s dairy product brand ‘Kokárdás’. Kokárdás products are 100-percent Hungarian in every respect. It was also in 2018 that ALDI introduced a new wine sourcing strategy, focusing on the most popular Hungarian winemakers. Plus, the breads ALDI stores sell are always fresh and supplied by regional bakeries.
Bernhard Haider, managing director of ALDI Hungary told: consumer demand is growing for Hungarian products and this generates innovation work and new jobs at product manufacturers. From ALDI’s 1,800 SKU product selection 204 are Hungarian products, 35 are domestic and 60 are domestically processed products – these are certified by the trademarks on their packaging.
ALDI’s efforts in promoting Hungarian products have been acknowledged by the retail trade too, as in 2020 the company won a special prize in the Retail Award of Excellence for Hungarian Products programme for its trademark communication. (x)
