Worldwide 1.5 million toys have been recalled by Mattel
Big Bird, Elmo and Dora The Explorer characters' paints may contain excessive amounts of lead when they were manufactured in China.
According to the company one million of the leaded toys was
sold in the USA, the rest came to Canada, Mexico and the UK.
Toy maker RC2 Corp. in June voluntarily recalled 1.5 million
wooden railroad toys and set parts from its Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway
product line because the toys' paint contained lead.
