In April, the business sentiment index in the eurozone rose to its highest level since August 2018, according to a survey published on Tuesday by the Sentix Institute for Economic Research.
The business sentiment index rose 13.4 points in April from 5.0 points in the previous month instead of the expected 7.5 points. The value achieved in April is the highest since August 2018, at 14.7 points.
The index hit a low of minus 42.9 points a year ago, in April 2020, as a result of the restrictive measures put in place due to the coronavirus epidemic. By May, the mood had hardly improved somewhat, the index had risen to minus 41.8 points, but by June the momentum had already started to improve, reaching 24.8 points. The index first reached a positive value in January this year at 1.2 points, then slipped back to minus 0.2 points in February. (MTI)
