A Chinese consumer failed drug test after eating noodles with poppy
Liu Ju ate cold noodles at Changcheng Town and drove back home carrying six bags of crude oil, according to the report. He was stopped by police at Wujing Highway and taken back to the station for a urine test.
The test results were positive, but Liu had insisted that he didn't take drugs. The police didn't believe him, and he was punched by one of the officers and forced to admit that he was a drug addict, landing him 15 days in detention.
In May, a Shanghai restaurant owner was sentenced to 10 months in prison for adding addictive poppy seed powder in sauces and soups to make them more aromatic and delicious. (MTI)
