The success of Hungarian champagnes at the 2024 World Champagne Championship
Several Hungarian champagne wineries achieved outstanding results at the 2024 World Champagne Championship, which was held in London. At the prestigious competition, Sauska Borászat, Kreinbacher Birtok, Hungaria and Szentpéteri Borpince also won numerous awards, while Kárásztelek Pezsgőpincezét also bagged four gold medals.
Among the four gold-medal lots of Kárásztelek Champagne Winery are Carassia 2018 Classic Vintage Brut Magnum, Carassia 2018 773 Magnum, Carassia 2018 Rosé Vintage Magnum and Carassia NV Blanc de Blancs Brut, which won the jury’s approval with their world-class quality.
Kreinbacher Birtok also delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home two silver medals: the 2019 Extra Brut Magnum and the 2017 Égoïste Magnum lots were awarded.
The Sauska Winery did not miss out on the accolades either: they won two gold medals and one silver medal. The gold medal lots were Sauska NV Brut Magnum and Sauska NV Brut, made from a blend of Furmint, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Hárslevelű grape varieties.
Hungaria and Szentpéteri Borpince also participated successfully in the competition. Hungaria won two silver medals, while Szentpéteri Borpince also returned home with two silver medals, proving that Hungarian champagnes occupy a worthy place at the forefront of the world.
