Magazine: A truly great performance!
A superb result from the Hungarian team at the 2017 Bocuse d’Or: we finished 4th and won the special prize for the best meat plate. Besides Tamás Széll, team members were commis Kevin Szabó, coach Frigyes Vomberg, team captain Zoltán Hamvas and Szabina Szulló, who helped the team prepare for the world final. The final result was: 1. USA, 2. Norway and 3. Iceland. Such greats helped the preparation of the US team as Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud. France won the special prize for the vegetarian plate.
French team member Benjamin Vakanas was named the best commis and Australia went home with the prize for the best promotion. Hungary’s promotional poster got the most votes in the online voting. All in all, we can agree with food writer Tamás Molnár B.: the team’s result surpassed the level of Hungary’s culinary culture by far. We don’t know yet how Tamás Széll’s career will continue, but let’s not forget that this year’s winner, Matthew Peters won silver two years ago and Rasmus Kofoed also won bronze and silver medals before winning the Bocuse d’Or!
