Because of the crisis of the dairy sector, producers sold ten thousand breeding animals in the first part of the yaer, more than the whole of last year – said Wagenhoffer Zsombor, the director of the Association of Hungarian Stockbreeders.

Wagenhoffer pointed out, that if the selling of stock continues at this rate, there will be no sufficient capacity to ensure the country's milk supply. The situation will deteriorate further, if the milk purchasing price can not be stabilized. The prices are falling since May, while in the European Union a one and half percent increase occured  in producer prices in May.
The 18 billion aid package announced in early July can be a lifebelt – if  the European Commission will approve it, that Hungary support its milk producers, from the 12 billion HUF of the managing of new challenges package – reports Napi Gazdaság.
