KSH: foreign trade surplus close to record

In September, the value of exports in euros increased by 6.1 percent year-on-year and surpassed the previous month by 30.0 percent. Imports fell 0.8 percent year-on-year, but were 19.7 percent higher than in August. The foreign trade surplus was 1.140 billion euros in September. It is 664 million euros higher than a year earlier and only 10 million euros lower than the record amount in June 2016, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said based on its second estimate.

In September, exports of machinery and transport equipment increased by 8.1 percent, exports of processed products by 4.3 percent and food exports by 6.7 percent year-on-year. Compared to August, the growth was 34.9, 26.7 and 11.9 percent, respectively. Imports of machinery and transport equipment increased by 1.9 percent, imports of processed products by 5.7 percent year-on-year, while imports of food products increased by 3.9 percent. (MTI)
