Penny Market Kft., a member of Rewe Group, opened their first food discount store in Szentes in 1996. Presently they have 189 units in Hungary and according to data from the Hungarian Trade Association, Penny’s sales revenue was HUF 137 billion in 2009, ranking number two among food discount store chains behind Lidl.
