Increasing branded drinks sales
Diageo and Pernod-Ricard SA came up with a turnover in the first quarter of the year that are exceeding the expectations, due to the fact that the costumers in the emerging economies consumed a lot of whiskey and cognac, offsetting the weakness of the mature markets.
Sales grew by 7 percent at Diageo and by 5 percent at Pernod-Ricard, both results were higher than expected.
The crisis also had an impact on the alcohol industry, reducing sales in Spain and Greece, while in Russia, in the United Kingdom and in Germany, the alcohol industry is coming out of the crisis. North America, which is the largest market currently, also performed well – reports tozsdeforum.hu.
