PET bottles equipped with GPS transmitters have been launched on the Upper Tisza, and the devices developed in the framework of the Waste-Free Tisza project can serve the research that tracks the path of waste transported on the river for up to two years – the organizers told MTI.

At Vásárosnamény, four bottles were thrown into the flooded Tisza to help the PET Cup waste monitoring program. The electronically labeled bottles (Táltos, Lightning, Dancer and Pompás) were named after an internet naming campaign. In addition to the experts of the PET Cup, the members of the Upper Tisza Diver and Rescue Association also took part in the program – according to the announcement. (MTI)
