Improved consumer confidence in the world's largest economy
Instead of the expected decline, the Conference Board’s consumer confidence index moderately increased in the United States in September.
The consumer confidence index of the Conference Board nonprofit economic research group jumped to 103.0 points in September from the 101.3 points of August. Analysts expected 96.0 points.
According to Lynn Franco, Conference Board’s director, the increase is mainly due to the fact that the consumers consider the current economic situation more favorable. (MTI)
