Budapest Wholesale Market opens to the public for a day
This year was the second that the Budapest Wholesale Market gave the public a chance to take a look behind the scenes on 20 June 2018. At ‘A Night at the Wholesale Market’ visitors had the opportunity to take a 2-hour tour around the 35-hectare area, where 400,000-450,000 tons of fruit and vegetable is sold every year. One of the tour’s highlights was the giant banana ripening chamber, where tons of bananas are waiting to get ripe enough to be sold to consumers. Budapest Wholesale Market’s plan is to turn this programme into an event that is organised every year. (x)
