Penny Market: a smart solution for 20 years
Discount store chain Penny Market is owned by German group REWE, which employs 330,000 people in 20 European countries and operates more than 15,000 stores. Penny Market is 20 years old this year in Hungary, where the number of stores is 205. Last year they opened 3 new discount stores and more will follow in 2016. Last year Penny Market’s Vitateam loyalty promotion won a bronze medal in the Promotion of the Year competition. This year all Hungarian Penny Market stores will be modernised, so that shoppers can visit light and spacious stores where it is more comfortable to shop. What is more, every store offers freshly baked breads, rolls and other tasty baked goods as of this year
Penny Market has decided to keep the ‘Smart Solutions’ slogan, but in their new advertisement campaign a red fridge plays the main role, with the message being: Penny Market leaves no fridge empty by the end of the month. The majority of the chain’s private label products are made in Hungary. From these the focus is on premium category Selection products, which are available in the Easter and Christmas periods. When using the FanGame card, loyal customers can get extra discounts and participate in activities and prize games. Panny Market thanks the loyalty of customers by regularly organising Family Days, where free programmes are waiting for families. (x)
