Seven-point consumer protection action plan announced at NKFH conference
The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) presented its seven-point consumer protection action plan at the first National Consumer Protection Conference titled “United for Consumers”. The program aims to increase consumer safety, strengthen law-abiding market behavior and curb abuses related to online purchases.
One of the most important elements of the plan is the launch of a search engine that filters out fraudulent web stores, which will provide customers with transparent information about complaint handling, delivery times, payment terms and warranty practices. The authority is also launching priority inspections in the dietary supplement market, implementing laboratory developments to increase product safety, and creating an online repair platform that collects service services.
Dr. Lilla Német-Weingartner, President of the NKFH, said: in 2025, the authority coordinated almost 20 thousand inspections, imposed 2.2 billion forints in fines, and received 6 thousand consumer inquiries. The NKFH aims to further strengthen the protection of Hungarian families, consumer awareness, and the law-abiding operation of businesses.
