GMO-free soybean cultivation against import dependence
Hungary aims to provide high quality, domestic non-GMO soy, reducing the country's import dependence – Czerván György, Minister of State at the Ministry of Rural Development responsible for agri-management told on Thursday after welcoming Matthias Krone, president of the Danube Soybean Association.
The ministry’s statement said that the negotiators agreed to support the growing of protein crops – including soybeans as well – through the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy.
Czerván György emphasized in connection with the Danube soy initiative that the Hungarian Ministry launched the preparation works of the protein program, which is part of the national rural development strategy. (MTI)
